Startup Weekend is all about people with great ideas!
And who doesn’t have a great idea?
We’re opening the comments for this page for people to pitch their ideas to Startup Weekend attendees (and the world at large). Use this as an opportunity to explain how great your idea is, to drum up developers to help you implement, and acquire the talent you need to take it to the next level. Gather a good team around a good idea, and you just built yourself a startup!
Here’s a few things to consider when you’re pitching your idea in the comments below:
- Keep it simple: You should be able to implement enough of your initial implementation as a demo on Sunday evening. Simple things are hard enough. Actually, simple things are hardest of all!
- Be articulate: Your ability to explain exactly how your idea benefits the user will have a direct correlation to how well you can attract other developers to work on your project. If you can’t explain it well, you probably won’t get a lot of traction. And remember, the first thing people ask themselves: “What’s in it for me?”
- Don’t take criticism personally: This is a very good venue for getting superb and highly relevant feedback from expert developers! Your idea may be very good in general, but may not be viable for Startup Weekend. This is great information, and would cost you a LOT of money if you paid a professional consultant to evaluate it for you.
- Be flexible: If your idea grows legs (gets a lot of comments), you may find a better idea resulting from the discussion. Go with it! Leadership is in part putting yourself in front of a crowd already moving in a certain direction. Get that crowd moving and roll with it!
Note: You may submit your idea at Startup Weekend on Friday evening! You do NOT need to submit your idea here to have it considered.
